“It appears we have lost India and Russia to the deepest and darkest China. Let them have a long and prosperous future together!” Trump wrote in his social account of truth, posting photos side by side of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The summit, held at the beginning of the week, saw Modi and Putin laugh together and featured the moments where Xi stood together.
This image sparks debate about potential reorganizations in global politics, and some analysts interpret it as a sign of growth in unity among countries facing growing tensions with the United States.
Meanwhile, Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Randil Jaiswal declined to comment at a press conference in New Delhi on Friday. However, he said, “This relationship between the US and India is very important to us.”
“Our countries share comprehensive global strategic partnerships that are fixed in our shared interests, democratic values, and robust people-to-people relationships,” Jacewal said.
Trump has imposed an astounding 50% tariff on Indian imports, in part to Russian oil purchases. New Delhi calls tariffs “unfair.”
The partnership with the US has “overcalled several transitions and challenges. We focus on the substantial agenda that both countries are committed to, and we hope that the relationship continues to move forward based on mutual respect and shared interests,” the spokesman said.
