Seyyed Abbas Araghchi made a statement at a joint press conference with Armenian Ararat Mirzoyan in Yerevan.
He said he will not be meeting directly with the US under the greatest pressure in the context of increasing military threats and sanctions, saying, “We are currently in discussions with three European countries. We will never leave the negotiation table.”
Araghchi said, “We welcome the agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the text of the peace treaty, encouraging both parties to sign a final understanding.”
“Iran supports the development of economic cooperation and the launch of trade routes while respecting the integrity of the country’s territorial system.”
He emphasized that Iran supports the independence and territorial integrity of regional countries, saying, “Iran’s Islamic Republic is opposed to geopolitical changes and changes in international borders.”
“Today, we discussed bilateral relationships in detail. Fortunately, there is a tendency to grow in a variety of areas,” Araguchi said.
“There is a very good dynamic in trade exchange, there is the implementation of joint economic projects, people to people and tourism, scientific and cultural cooperation. We agreed to leverage the capabilities of both countries to further develop the relationship,” he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said, “I believe that the agreement between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan is extremely important for the peace and stability of the Caucasus region and for the expansion of economic cooperation in the region. There is a risk of increasing tensions in this region.
