Beirut – Prior to the May 2026 Congressional election, Washington relies on the impact of a series of punitive measures on Shia duo, Hezbollah and the Amal movement.
Washington believes that the loss of funding for the Shia duo and the collapse of banking institutions will encourage supporters to boycott candidates or elect their opponents, stripping them of political share within the state institutions.
The US plan to drain the funds of resistance and strangle them financially is part of a continuing attack on Lebanon. This also encourages the weakening of efforts to rebuild Hezbollah’s military weapons and structures, and prevents the reconstruction of what was cruelly destroyed by US-backed Israeli attacks.
The implementation of these measures is being facilitated by Syria’s de facto HTS-led regime.
In response to Israel’s orders, the de facto HTS-led regime recently launched a systematic attack on Lebanon’s Qusayr countryside (south of HOMS) and imposed a ground siege on Hezbollah, while Israeli drones monitored the rest of the border crossing to block the possible relocation of weapons or funds.
The Lebanese government’s decision following Israeli threat to bomb Beirut Airport if Israeli aircraft lands is one of the most important steps in air blockade.
This coincided with inspection and surveillance deadlines and surveillance procedures, as well as the firing and exchange of dozens of employees based on sectarian backgrounds, by excluded Shiites exclusively.
These measures are primarily intended to prohibit the transfer of cash cargo to Hezbollah.
The same measures are being implemented at Beirut Port, with a series of changes being made from the inspection mechanism and screening rooms. Many Shia employees were also fired after many accusations were filed by anti-hazard media and politicians.
In parallel, US Spiden (embassy) in Beirut is closely monitoring financial transfers and commercial transactions with Lebanon to ensure that Hezbollah does not benefit from them.
Karim’s appointment, as new governor of Bank Central du Liban, said he has strengthened Washington’s control over the banking sector, including stricter control over the opening of accounts, voluntary freezes of certain accounts, scrutiny of commercial transactions with Hezbollah, or transferring funds for that account.
This applies to exchange companies that are subject to heavy fines from Dulivan in the bank’s central location if Washington deals with individuals or groups that are considering near Hezbollah, or simply considers on the basis of doubts to pressure Hezbollah to stand up to it.
The same applies to controlling cryptocurrency purchases, as these transactions are difficult to monitor due to the nature of the blockchain system.
More importantly for Washington, the Israeli arm completes the Israeli arm by bombing several centers at Al-Cardo Al Hassan, some of the Hezbollah banking institutions.
Clearly, US Spiden in Beirut (embassy) is pressing the agency to close.
It is worth noting that during the financial crisis that broke out in 2019, Al-Cardo Al-Hassan did not plunder depositors’ money as the bank owned by Washington-protected political oliheads is a nonprofit that offers soft loans to a wide segment of Lebanon’s population.
Therefore, during the recent attacks, the anti-resistance media launched a campaign to demonize Al-Cardo al-Hassan, threatening those who deal with it with harsh hostile punishments.
