Indirect negotiations between Iran and the US are scheduled to begin in Oman on Saturday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araguchi announced that Tehran and Washington would engage in high-level indirect negotiations in Oman on Saturday, calling it both a “opportunity and a test” for the US.
An unconfirmed report released by Nournews on Tuesday shows that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi and envoys to Middle Eastern Stephen Witkov will be key negotiators.
The talks have been held indirectly, with Omani’s foreign minister Badr Albusady acting as a mediator, the media outlet reports.
On Monday, rejecting speculation about the names of possible negotiators, Araguchi emphasized that the future negotiation process will be fully guided and managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
