BEIRUT – The Lebanese government has not yet commented on a praise statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office regarding its decision to disarm resistance, which can only be considered a representation of a planned, coordinated strategic course against Lebanon.
The Israeli statement stands out as particularly unusual in putting internal pressure on resistance and efforts to dismantle its support base. This is an attempt to integrate what is taking into account the fruits of Israel’s accumulated efforts, and is attributed to the political and diplomatic pressures exerted by international and regional political parties after failing to eradicate resistance.
The brave statement of the Israeli regime was evident in the utter neglect of ongoing occupation and daily violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty, classifying resistance as a threat to this sovereignty!
In the Israeli statement, what “rebuilding the state institutions and the army” means not to strengthen the army so that they can stand up to the enemy, but to become police officers working for Israel and such national security.
The Israeli statement did not stop here. “Cooperation with the Lebanese government will work together to disarm Hezbollah and cooperate for a safer future.”
Therefore, Trump quickly proposed a project for an economic zone on Lebanon’s southern border with occupied Palestinian territory.
Assuming that the Nawafsalam government’s decision to disarm Hezbollah goes smoothly, Lebanon will find itself losing not only its weapons of resistance, but its entire political and cultural presence.
The severity of the pressure applied to Lebanon, both directly and indirectly, has the sole purpose of completely disarming Hezbollah and stripping Lebanon of its deterrent ability.
This prompted Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem to launch a campaign that “requests the Lebanese government to restore national sovereignty” and prompted action on the issue in a week.
In parallel, Hezbollah and the Amal Movement announced that the postponement of the scheduled protest rally on Wednesday would “enable dialogue.”
The Resistance Duo explained that postponing the protest would be “in response to the national responsibility imposed by the current situation, to maintain unity and stability and enable detailed and constructive dialogue on the important issues facing our nation.”
Meanwhile, the UN Security Council postponed the session and extended UNIFIL’s duties to unspecified dates. United Nations spokesman Stephen Dujaric argued that Unifil’s support for the Lebanese army was “very important.”
