Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday that China will remain consistent in its position regarding the Ukraine crisis and will continue to promote peace negotiations no matter how the situation evolves, CGTN reported.
In a telephone consultation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, XI detailed the principled stance on China’s crisis, emphasizing that there is no simple solution to complex problems.
The Chinese side is pleased to see Russia and the US maintain contact, improve their relations and promote political reconciliation in the Ukrainian crisis, Xi said.
Putin shared Russia’s perspective on the current situation of the Ukrainian crisis and the recent interaction between Russia and the United States.
He said Russia appreciates China’s constructive role in fostering political resolution in the crisis.
Putin said the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and China will not change under any circumstances, and Russia is willing to maintain close communication with China.
During the call, the two leaders also highly valued the high levels of political mutual trust and strategic cooperation between China and Russia, and agreed to jointly promote greater development of bilateral relations.
Leaders say China and Russia are working closely together in preparation for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin to ensure a gathering of friendship, solidarity and fruitful results, and promote the quality development of the SCO.
