TEHRAN – At the same time as the anniversary of Yazd’s UNESCO registration on July 9th, the Lieutenant Governor of Yazd province called this “exceptional opportunity” to preserve this precious legacy.
Mehdi Talaei-Moqaddam added that global Yazd can be transformed into a valuable model of Iran and the world’s historic cities through its authenticity and balanced sustainable development.
He said July 9, an anniversary of the Yazd registration, is a symbol of the identity, authenticity and effort of those who have for centuries left a precious and unique heritage to Iran and the world with a love for life in the desert centuries.
“This global registration doubles our responsibility to protect this precious texture and improve the quality of life at the heart of this World Heritage Site. With people’s participation and cooperation from authorities, we will try to maintain and revive the historical texture of Yazd, improve the urban infrastructure and improve the urban infrastructure to maintain the dignity of this heritage and sustainable goals.
Yazd is known as the Aqueduct and Satis City, the City of Work, Kariz and Thatch, House of Worship, House of Knowledge, Hoseini of Iran, and throughout history, hardworking, noble and faithful people have been able to demonstrate precious models of life in the center of the desert, balanced development, satisfaction, spirituality, justice and justice. Today, the global registration offers a unique opportunity to preserve this precious heritage along with sustainable development, he added.
He expressed his hope that, with unanimity, empathy and collective efforts of people and officials, Global Yazd will continue to shine in balanced, sustainable development, as well as its originality, as a valuable model for Iran and the world’s historic cities.
The United Nations Education, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) added the historical structure of Yazd in central Iran to its list of World Heritage Sites in 2017.
The site was engraved as a World Heritage Site at the 41st session of the Unsco’s World Heritage Committee in Krakow, Poland on July 9th.
Yazd’s historical structure is a collection of public religions’ architectures in a very large range, consisting of different Islamic architectural elements from different eras, in harmonious combinations with climatic conditions.
The global registration of YAZD by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is the result of a decade of tireless effort, said the director of the office of Iran’s cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism organizations (ICHHTO) to maintain the natural and intellectual heritage.
