In the wake of the fatal Israeli airstrike on Thursday, the Yemeni president announced the martial teaching of Prime Minister Ahmad Galeb Al-Rawi and several ministers during a daily government workshop in Sanaa. The attack that injured other ministers was accused of “co-ill conduct” aimed at undermining Yemen’s role in supporting Gaza.
President Mahdi al-Mashat has been appointed First Deputy Prime Minister Mohamed Ahmed Mahtaf to take over his duties as Prime Minister.
Al Rawi, a veteran politician from Camphor, of Governor Avian, was widely respected for his resilience, his deep connection with his community, and decades of public service. Despite repeated attempts at assassination and personal losses, rising through local governance, he was seen by many as a symbol of immobility and commitment to Yemen’s sovereignty. His leadership in the “Government of Change and Construction” was characterized by his focus on national unity and resistance to foreign attacks.
“The blood of our great martyrs will be the fuel to continue on the same path,” the president declared, vowing that state agencies will continue to serve the people of Yemen “no matter the size of the loss.” Authorities have reassured citizens that the government will continue its duties in the capacity of caretakers.
The presidency reaffirms its “original position in supporting and supporting the people of Gaza,” pledging to continue building its troops to confront “all challenges and dangers,” reflecting the broader stance of the country at the forefront of defending Palestine and resisting Israeli invasion.
