Major General Mohammed Abdulkarim al-Gamali, chief of the general staff of the Yemeni military, made a statement to the country’s official Sabah News Agency on Friday.
“The escalation of Zionists to Gaza and Yemen is not a sign of strength, but a sign that they have not achieved their goals for nearly two years, and we encountered escalations,” he said.
The statement came the day after the “estimation of Israel” alleged that the administration may have “assassinated” many Yemeni officials, including Gamali and Defense Minister Mohamed al-Atifi, during an airstrike on the country’s capital, Sanaa.
Gamali was also targeted during the Israeli attack in June.
Officials denounced the regime for targeting the capital’s private neighbourhoods and framing it as a push to remove Yemen’s political and military elite.
“Targeting Sanaa’s civilian neighbours by Zionist enemies will not be punished,” he said.
The administration began attacking states on the Arab Peninsula last year after Sanaaa launched a series of solidarity strikes in support of Gaza, after which it was undergoing Israeli genocide war a year ago.
Yemeni military escalated the operation after the regime strengthened its military attacks on coastal slivers and blocked food invasion into the territory almost entirely.
Gamali reiterated many previous statements by the military. They pledged not to abandon their resolve to stand up for Gaza.
“Yemen will not step back from supporting Gaza regardless of targets or the extent of sacrifice.”
