Yemeni forces said they had fired a polar ballistic missile towards Ben Gurion International Airport, on the outskirts of central Israel, in Tel Aviv, which was reportedly intercepted by Israeli defense systems, the Palestinian intelligence centre reported.
The missile launches respond to the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, and have activated air raid sirens across a wide area of central Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, the Middle East Monitor reported.
“The surgery achieved its goal, forced millions of (Israels), fled to shelters and stopped the airport operations,” military spokesman Yahya Saree was aired in a statement by Yemen’s Al-Masila satellite channel.
Surrey said the military had “three drone launches against three important Israeli targets” in Israeli cities in Tel Aviv, Ashdod and Eilat.
“We are striving to ban air traffic entirely at Ben Gurion Airport after successfully imposing a partial ban,” he said, adding that Yemeni forces will continue to fight back until the “invasion” against Gaza is stopped and the blockade is lifted.
Earlier that day, Israeli occupation forces said in a statement that missiles from Yemen had intercepted the ones that were fired.
Israeli Channel 12 News reported that missiles were found heading to Ben Gurion Airport before the missiles could be intercepted, adding that the airport was temporarily closed for takeoff and landing.
He added that 49 missiles have been fired from Yemen, Israel, since March 18th.
