Tehran-Two Weeks The 36th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), 230 publishers registered to participate in the Children and Young Adult section, a board member of the Children and Youth Cultural Association and an officer of Youth Publishing.
“This number is 31 more than last year. In addition, 28 publishers will be represented through agencies,” Mehr cited Mohammad Taqi Haghbin as saying.
“The publishers in this section have a total of 13,000 square meters of space, indicating an increase of 2,000 square meters compared to last year,” he added.
“The publisher presents a total of 31,792 titles in the Children and Young Adult section. All of these are approved by the Iranian Book and Literary House,” Haghbin said.
Referring to the accessibility of all publishers’ books for readers of this section, he states: “We have a collective pavilion in sections of children and young adults offering books from publishers that for some reason are not physically present in order to ensure that readers have access to books from all publishers.”
“Overall, there is no one publisher in this section that is missing this year’s fair, and as mentioned earlier, interest in participating in this section has increased compared to last year.
Recognised as a national heritage and event, the Tehran International Book Fair not only cheers and enriches the country’s culture, but also attracts the attention of cultural figures and book lovers around the world.
The cultural event has become an important book fair in West Asia landmarks for 35 consecutive editions. Millions of visitors inspect the fair each year, including thousands of university students, academics and their families.
The event now serves as Iran’s most important cultural event. On average, 2,500 domestic and 600 foreign publishers take part in the landmark event. Foreign publishers essentially provide material in English or Arabic. However, titles are also available in French, German, Chinese, Korean, Russian, or Japanese.
The 36th TIBF is scheduled to take place at Imam Khomeinimosala in Tehran from May 7th to 17th. “Read for Iran” was chosen as the slogan for this edition of this book fair.
