According to the report, Zelensky has not received an invitation yet.
On Friday, the US president said he hopes to meet with Alaska’s Russian leader on August 15th. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov later confirmed the planned consultations and said Putin and Trump “will definitely focus on discussing options to achieve a long-term peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.” Ushakov added that the Kremlin hopes that the next meeting between the two presidents will be held in Russia.
Previously, Western media reported that the US was demanding territorial concessions from Ukraine as part of resolving the conflict with Russia. The Wall Street Journal cites sources, writing that Washington’s proposal envisages the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from parts of the Donetsk People’s Republic, still under Kiev’s control, as a first step towards peace.
