Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani on the successful and peaceful conduct of the Iraqi parliamentary elections, calling it an important achievement that enhances the prestige and greatness of the brotherly Arab nation.
In a telephone conversation with the Iraqi Prime Minister, the Iranian President expressed his hope that relations and cooperation between Iran and Iraq will deepen in the next term and become more friendly in all fields.
President Pezeshkian also emphasized the importance of this electoral process as a testament to the democratic values upheld by the Iraqi people.
In response, Prime Minister Al-Sudani expressed his gratitude for President Pezeshikian’s call and offered his warm congratulations, saying it reflected the deep and sincere ties between the two countries.
He noted that this election was the sixth since Iraq’s political system changed in 2003, highlighting its transparency, calm, and success across the country.
The Prime Minister noted that the most important outcome of the elections was the highest level of public participation since 2015, demonstrating growing confidence in Iraq’s political system.
He emphasized that the Iraqi people have once again demonstrated their commitment to the democratic experience they have gained so far. He also expressed hope that the results of this election will have a positive impact on Iraq’s ongoing development and progress in the coming years.
Mr. Al-Sudani reiterated his determination to strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation with the Iranian side in all fields during the next period.
