The International Conference on Iranian Studies, which focuses on “networking and problem-solving” in the field of Iranian studies, officially opened on Saturday morning at the venue of the Organization for Islamic Culture and Communication in Tehran. The event aims to explore and showcase Iranian studies capabilities within the Islamic Republic of Iran and is jointly organized by the Organization for Islamic Cultural Communication and the Iranian Studies Foundation, with sessions held in both Tehran and Shiraz.
The conference will be attended by 50 international scholars from various countries including Spain, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Oman, Qatar, Tunisia, India, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka. Most of the participants are chairs of departments of Iranian studies, deans, or leading researchers in the field. Similar conferences have been held in the past, but this time the focus is on cultural diplomacy and aims to build a sustainable platform for the future of Iranian studies research.
In parallel with the main conference, specialized sessions will be held at the University of Tehran, Shahid Beheshti University, Allameh Tabatabai University and University of Science and Culture. Topics include tourism, Persian language, technology, Iran’s spiritual heritage, civilization studies, and more.
The conference will conclude in Shiraz, hosted by Shiraz University, where domestic and international Iranian scholars will continue discussions.
The organization of this conference is considered a national priority, with the active participation of the Ministry of Science, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through a Scientific Committee responsible for selecting participants and determining the themes of the sessions.
More than 300 abstracts and papers were submitted to the conference secretariat, of which 100 were selected for inclusion in the published synopsis book. Full versions of all papers will be published after the event.
