“There was no doubt about the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activity,” Esmail Bhagihai said on Monday while appearing on the state television.
He added that the latest report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) does not contain words that suggest Iran’s non-compliance or departure from nuclear commitments.
Baghaei has condemned the recent US involvement in attacks on Iran’s nuclear and civilian infrastructure as “criminal conduct” and “a total violation of international law.”
He emphasized that peaceful nuclear sites are protected under international treaties and that the United States, as a permanent officer on the UN Security Council, has an extra responsibility to protect international peace and security.
He accused Israel of “terrorists” attacks on June 13, targeting scientists, military and civilians without provocation from Iran, initially denying knowledge of the attack, but later directly involved.
“This is not only a violation of the United Nations Security Council’s obligations as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and signatories to international treaties, but also a serious threat to global peace and security, he said it was undeniable that Washington’s coordination with Israel before the attacks.
In response to criticism from the IAEA Governor’s Committee, Baguei has denounced several Western countries for distorting the narrative of Iran’s nuclear intent.
He said that the IAEA director had previously refrained from fully supporting Iran’s programme as peaceful, but recently admitted in an interview with CNN that the evidence did not point to a military aspect.
The statement was called a “laggable but important” confession, and Bagaei urged the IAEA to take responsibility for a “false story” that gave the Hawkish actor an excuse to attack Iran.
He criticized the US for hypocrisy, referring to his involvement in indirect five-round consultations with the US. “It’s a permanent stain on American records,” he said.
