According to Mehr’s news agency, Esmail Baghaei, a spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, firmly rejected the claims made in the final statement of the Arab League summit in Baghdad, the three Iranian islands of Greater Tamb, Lesser Tamb and Ab Musa.
He emphasized that the Trio Islands are an inseparable part of Iran’s territory, explaining claims that violate the UN Charter and the fundamental principles of the international law, particularly those respecting territorial integrity, national sovereignty and good neighbourhood policies.
Baghaei added that it is unacceptable to raise such issues in the Arab League’s final statement.
He also advised the Arab League to acknowledge unchanging historical and geographical realities in forming its position, and to work to promote mutual understanding and stronger relationships between regional states.
