“The US is trying to keep the region unstable by supporting Israel, splitting Muslims, looting the abundant resources of Islamic countries and sending arms and ammunition to the region in place of development,” Pezeshkian told Pakistan Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif in a call.
The president vehemently condemned the US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, claiming that the US initially wanted to ensure the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program through negotiations, and that the Islamic Republic welcomed the gesture and took part in the talks.
But as talks progressed, it became increasingly clear that the US was working in a lockstep with the Israeli administration.
“In the beginning they thought Iran was not willing to negotiate so that he could tell the world that the Islamic Republic had refused to talk, but during the negotiations they realised that Iran’s logic and reasoning had won, so they incited the Zionist regime to attack Iran.
Earlier on Sunday, the US joined the war of aggression against Iran by launching an attack on Israeli nuclear facilities.
President Pezeshkian emphasized that Israel launched a military attack on Iran on the US green light.
In a telephone conversation, the Pakistani Prime Minister strongly condemned the US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities as “a serious violation of international law.”
Sharif expressed deep concern that the US attacks violated both international and IAEA laws, as they attacked the facility under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards.
He expressed sincere sadness of the lives lost in the attacks and reaffirmed his “unwavering solidarity” with Pakistan’s Iran, praying for the quick recovery of the injured.
The Prime Minister recognized Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, but also emphasized the urgent need to return to dialogue and diplomacy as the only practical method.
