Speaking on the occasion of National Basij Week, Major General Abdulrahim Mousavi hailed the Popular Mobilization Forces (Basiji) as a pillar of national strength and a source of inspiration for the resistance front, highlighting its decisive role in modern hybrid warfare.
In a message released on Thursday, Maj. Gen. Abdulrahim Mousavi commemorated Basij Week by remembering Imam Khomeini’s historic proclamation that created the Basij as a popular faith-driven force rooted in sacrifice and insight.
The Supreme Commander described the Basij as not just an organization, but a culture, a complete school of thought formed by the spirit of Ashura and dedicated to defending the ideals of Islam and the Islamic Revolution.
Maj. Gen. Mousavi highlighted the decisive contributions of the Basij over the past 45 years, from the eight years of sacred defense (from 1980 to 1988 when Iraq imposed war on Iran) to the confrontation with modern hybrid and cognitive warfare.
He also emphasized its active role in reconstruction, security, scientific progress and national progress.
He said the Basij remains a symbol of Iranian people’s consciousness, resistance and intelligence, even as the media, economic and psychological warfare waged by the Islamic Republic’s enemies intensifies.
Referring to the recent 12-day war imposed on Iran by the United States and the Zionist regime on June 13, 2025, Maj. Gen. Mousavi said that the Basij once again demonstrated the firm resolve of the Iranian nation by standing as a solid shield of revolution, national security, and independence.
