Turkish Airlines, Urkiye’s flag carrier, announced on Saturday that it will resume flights to Iran from Monday, June 30th, after a temporary suspension earlier this month due to security concerns.
Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Eksi confirmed the development in a social media post, saying, “We are reopening Mashhad flights on Monday, June 30th.”
The announcement marks the national airline’s first scheduled flight to Iran since Türkiye halted all routes on June 13 following Israeli airstrikes in Iran.
The decision to resume flights comes after a ceasefire agreement is reached between Iran and Israel, reducing immediate security risks and enabling a gradual return of air travel.
Iran has resumed much of its airspace to international turbulence following a ceasefire with Israel, but domestic and foreign passenger flights remain suspended in most parts of the country, officials said on Saturday.
According to a statement from Majid Akhavan, a spokesman for the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the eastern, central and western Iranian airspace are now available for international overflight operations.
