TEHRAN – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Commander (IRGC) has reaffirmed that Tehran has no intention of starting a war, but he responds powerfully and resolutely to the threats and actions of the attack.
On Sunday, Major General Hossein Salami addressed a recent US allegation that Iran supports Yemeni troops in strikes against Israel. Washington is calling for an end to allegations of Iran’s aid against the Ansarra Resistance, but Salami dismissed these charges, highlighting Iran’s commitment to defending itself.
“Iran will never start a war, but when we face a threat, our response will be solid, crucial and crucial,” Salami said.
He also responded to President Donald Trump’s recent remarks, accusing Iran of commanding Yemen’s Ansarrah forces and warned Tehran to stop supporting the group.
“The Yemeni people are independent, free and able to make their own decisions,” Salami argued. “Iran is openly responsible for its actions.
US airstrikes in Yemen primarily targeted civilians rather than military facilities. Reports say at least 18 non-combatants were killed, nearly 20 others were injured and in assaults on Sanaa and elsewhere.
Since November 2023, Yemeni military forces have been on strike in Israel’s major military and economic locations, retaliating against the US-backed Israeli war with Gaza.
“We are ready to protect our interests, values, identity and legitimacy,” he declared. “The threat to Iran is met with overwhelming, decisive and destructive reactions.”
Salami has accused the US of repeating past mistakes in foreign policy, citing failures in Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen and Afghanistan.
“The enemy continues the same misguided path and refuses to learn from history. This path will only lead to their defeat,” he warned.
He also criticized Washington’s approach to diplomacy, saying, “They issue a threat about negotiations at the same time. This contradiction shows that they do not understand the Iranian state.”
Salami pointed to the US withdrawal from the 2018 Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (JCPOA). He accused the United States of abandoning diplomacy in favor of sanctions and pressure tactics.
