TEHRAN – Iranians from all walks of life held a solemn ceremony on Thursday to commemorate the 40th day since the martyrdom of late Islamic revolutionary leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
He was martyred on February 28, the first day of the US-Israeli invasion of Iran. The attack, which targeted his office in central Tehran, also claimed the lives of several military leaders who stood as the country’s defenders.
Millions of Iranians flooded the streets across the country to mourn their late leader, elite commanders and other victims of brutal US-Israeli terrorist attacks. In Tehran, the procession that began in Jomhouri Square and culminated at the site of Khamenei’s martyrdom was a powerful demonstration of national unity and unwavering loyalty to his revolutionary path. Mourners chanted slogans and recited dirges, reaffirming their commitment to the principles of the Islamic revolution and underscoring the lasting influence of the late leader’s vision.
Similar ceremonies were held in major cities such as Mashhad, Isfahan, Shiraz, Tabriz and Ahvaz, as well as smaller towns across Iran. At each location, participants paid tribute to the late leader’s lifelong dedication to justice, resistance to oppression, and defense of Iranian sovereignty. The nationwide rallies reflected the deep respect and admiration Iranians have for Khamenei, whose leadership inspired generations to defend independence, resistance, and fortitude in the face of foreign threats.
A symbol of revolutionary resolve, Khamenei guided Iran through turbulent times, defended the rights and dignity of his people, and dedicated his life to serving the nation. His martyrdom, along with the sacrifices of elite military commanders, further strengthened the Iranian people’s resolve to resist invasion and uphold the principles of the Islamic revolution.
A passionate expression of loyalty and national pride, Thursday’s ceremony reaffirmed that the late leader’s legacy continues to inspire and unite Iranians against external pressure. Across Iran, the people demonstrated once again that the spirit of the Islamic Revolution and the path of Ayatollah Khamenei remain alive in the hearts of millions of people.
