TEHRAN – Iran and Tajikistan’s defense minister convened in Tehran on Tuesday to reaffirm their commitment to expand defence cooperation, strengthening joint efforts to combat terrorism and building on years of historical and cultural ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, Iranian Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh highlighted Tajikistan’s strategic significance for Iran, citing the common linguistic, religious and civilized heritage that unites the two countries. He emphasized that Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, has consistently advocated for strengthening relations with Tajikistan in all areas, reflecting Iran’s strategic vision for the region.
Defence Minister Tajik Emomali Sobilzoda noted sufficient social, cultural, historical and religious commonalities that would reciprocate these feelings and provide a fertile position to strengthen cooperation.
