TEHRAN – On Thursday, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met with Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, leader of Tehran’s Islamic Revolution.
The purpose of the conference was to convey a message from the Saudi Arabian king and explore a pathway to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
The meeting also saw the participation of Major Mohamad Bagieri, the chief of Iranian military, was characterized by a spirit of cooperation. Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that Iran considers strong ties with Saudi Arabia to be mutually beneficial. “We believe that Iran’s Islamic Republic and Saudi Arabia ties can serve both countries well, and they can complement each other,” he said.
Emphasizing the growing progress in Iran’s various technical sectors, the leader conveyed Tehran’s willingness to share his knowledge know-how with Riyadh. “We are ready to provide technical assistance to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is much better for local brothers to cooperate and support each other than relying on external forces,” added Ayatollah Khamenei.
Ayatollah Khamenei also acknowledged the challenges posed by foreign forces against deepening Iran-Saudi relations and noted that these hostile influences must be overcome. “There are certain countries that are firmly opposed to the expansion of relations between our two countries, but we are ready to counter these hostile motivations,” he argued.
Prince Khalid Bin Salman has expressed his satisfaction on his part with the outcome of the discussion. Looking back on his visit, he said, “I have come to Tehran with the intention of expanding Saudi Arabia-Iran relations and promoting cooperation in all areas.
The Saudi Arabian Defense Minister emphasized the importance of building a foundation for a robust future partnership. He further informed that the debate will continue to focus on producing positive and lasting results for both countries.
