Tehran – One of the vice president’s main priorities in the science and knowledge-based economy in the health sector is to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into healthcare to reduce healthcare costs by 40%.
The current healthcare costs in the country are extremely high. One of the main solutions to reduce healthcare costs and increase productivity (particularly for chronic diseases) is to use the right AI-based technology, IRNA quoted as saying by Mostafa Qanei.
Integrating AI into a healthcare system requires a good roadmap and a comprehensive approach. Officials went on to say that experts working in the field will be supported in a variety of ways to increase innovation.
Tehran will host its first symposium on AI in health
The first symposium on artificial intelligence on health, focusing on smart hospitals, is scheduled to take place in Tehran in the summer.
AI plays an important role in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases. It also improves the quality of health services.
The event, hosted by Amirkabir Institute of Technology, brings together experts to discuss global solutions and local models, and develops smart hospitals that utilize AI in hospital management, reported by the Health Ministry website.
The symposium will focus on AI assistants for hospital administrators, AI-optimized patient experiences, smart hospital automation and robotics, smart healthcare monitoring of patients, Internet of Things (IOT), smart medical equipment, and AI-based decision support systems.
It will also focus on strengthening the power of smart hospital doctors and staff, leveraging AI in resource and supply chain management, developing brain computer interfaces (BCIS), and discussing ethical, legal and security issues that use AI in hospitals.
