Tehran – Spinned, spherical stones, sparkling from afar in the blue and green shades of marble, are the very places we know well.
It is where we were born and where we grew up together with millions of creatures and countless non-biological elements.
All understanding of the universe came in terms of its famous “pale blue dots” and to this day no other place could be found to serve as an alternative home in this vast universe.
The Earth is the cradle of us and all living creatures we know, and a unique and nurtured environment that we have relied on, brought out and endured strength thanks to its countless blessings.
The biosphere was a generous host for us and for other organisms. However, we humans do not return that kindness. For both the host and each other.
Today, in honor of all the gifts this inhabited Earth has given us, we observe Earth Day. This reminds us that Earth is the only home we know in the universe. It’s the very place we’ve been contaminated, confused and steadily warmed in many areas. Life is getting more and more difficult. Not just for other species, but for ourselves as well.
We must remember that depletion of important resources such as storms, prolonged droughts, freshwater, clean air, dense forests and fertile grasslands is the result of our indifference and mismanagement. Earth Day offers moments to reflect on our past and present actions and to think about what the future holds for us and all living things.
Luckily, we now understand the root cause of what is happening on our planet. And there’s still hope. Together, we can build a brighter, more sustainable future. Despite our differences, we must imagine a shared destiny and support each other as we turn that vision into reality.
