TEHRAN – Vincent Kassad, president of Iran’s International Committee on the Red Cross (ICRC), announced that he is ready to provide relief services to injured people during a massive explosion at Shahid Rajae Port on Saturday.
In a letter to the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Association (IRCS), Pir-Hossein Kolivand was tolerated as the family of the victims of the tragic incident.
To date, 70 people have been killed and approximately 1,200 have been reportedly injured in Inferno.
“We were deeply saddened to hear about the Bandar Abbas explosion, causing casualties and destruction in the area. On behalf of the International Committee of the Red Cross, we express our deep sadness to the victims’ families and the Iranian Red Three Zent Association.
We recognize and praise society’s prompt response and efforts in this difficult situation. We are ready to support you in providing help to those affected. If necessary, we are ready to support Iran’s Red Crescent Association as much as possible,” the letter reads.
The strategically important port is approximately 15 km southwest of Bandar Abbas Port on the north shore of the Strait of Hormuz.
The first study shows that “negligence” in observing “safety standards” is responsible for the massive Saturday inferno at Shahid Rajaei Port, a committee investigating the incidents mentioned in a press release on Monday night.
“Notice has been confirmed in observing safety standards and passive defense measures,” the committee explained.
“There have also been cases of false statements, and security and judicial authorities are actively working to identify responsible persons.”
However, the committee states, “A conclusive investigation into the cause of an incident requires a thorough review of all aspects, including the specific technical and experimental process, due to technical and expert considerations.”
