Tehran – St. Petersburg State University Russia University will open a branch in the International Innovation Zone, located northeast of Tehran.
The measure will be taken in line with the initiative of the Cabinet of Ministers to work with the Iranian University of Science and Technology to establish branches of foreign universities in the International Innovation Zone.
To this end, the Mehr News Agency was signed on Monday by representatives of Pardis Technology Park, the University of Science and Technology in Iran and the University of St. Petersburg.
Based on a comprehensive agreement between Iran and Russia’s top universities, the two are committed to promoting long-term and constructive relationships in higher education, technology and innovation.
Establishing a secretariat for communication between universities in the two countries is one of the major measures taken.
On May 2, in a meeting with Russian presidential aide Andrei Hursenko, Mehdi Safalinia, head of the organization for the development of international cooperation in science and technology, said Iran was emphasizing that Iran is the first country.
Officials went on to say that Russian companies can have offices at Pardis Technology Park. The establishment of a branch of a Russian university in this country was the second point that Safalinia mentioned. “We have already signed an agreement with the University of St. Petersburg and Moscow State University, and we are working with the University of Science and Technology to follow up on this issue.
This will be the first foreign university to have a branch in Iran. Students from both Iran and the region can study at this university and spend some of their research in Iran in Russia,” Safalinia further said.
