TEHRAN – Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations has vehemently rejected a Reuters report claiming Tehran’s plan to supply Russia with launchers of short-range ballistic missiles, calling the claims part of a pattern of “absurdly absurd” and “unfound allegations” against the Islamic Republic.
“The allegations are totally ridiculous. The sustainability of Reuters in the baseless accusations against Iran is unfortunate,” the mission said in an email response to the press.
The mission, which highlighted Iran’s principled stance on Ukraine’s conflict, added: “As long as the conflict continues between the parties, Iran will refrain from providing any form of military aid on either side.”
A Reuters article released Friday cited an unnamed “Western security officials and local sources” claiming Iran was preparing to deliver “fath-360 missile launchers” to Russia.
In September 2024, US officials accused Iran of sending Fass 360 missiles to Russia without providing evidence.
Iran and Russia have consistently denied the transfer of arms related to the Ukrainian war. Tehran has repeatedly criticised Western countries for extending the conflict by supplying Kiev with sophisticated weapons, but Moscow has rejected the same allegation as misinformation.
