TEHRAN – At the 19th Parliamentary Union (PUIC) Summit in Jakarta on Wednesday, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bakar Karibah has called on Islamic states to take a unified and decisive action against Israel, and is governing Israel in response to its governance.
“It’s time for Islamic countries to make a collective and decisive decision to end the lockdown,” Kalibakh said, stressing that the international community can no longer remain silent in the face of what was described as war crimes, genocide and apartheid.
Karibah sought recognition of these crimes by the Islamic State and demanded that Israeli leaders be brought to the International Court of Justice. He said Israel’s actions must be faced through coordinated pressure from the Islamic world.
Karibahu has condemned recent remarks by US President Donald Trump as “delusional,” reaffirming Iran’s commitment to Zionist attacks and resistance to foreign interference in the region.
“Trump remains lost in delusion,” declared Karibaf. “He should look to the undeniable reality that resistance is not only surviving, but firmly rooted in national beliefs across the region.”
Qlalibaf noted that despite sustained fires by Israel over a year and a half, support for Palestinian resistance groups remains strong both in Gaza and the West Bank. He further pointed out Lebanon’s recent local elections. There, candidates from the resistance campaign won decisively despite immeasurable economic and political pressures.
“People in this area are no longer shaking with threats and publicity,” he said. “They chose the path of resistance.”
“Iran does not seek nuclear weapons or war.”
In his remarks, Karibah also reiterated his official stance on Iran’s nuclear weapons, emphasizing that Tehran has never pursued nuclear weapons and continues to defend regional peace through dialogue and cooperation.
“Iran does not seek war, but he never accepts surrender,” he said. “We believe in our brotherhood with our neighbors and are resolutely refusing to attempts by the US to stir up the division in order to boost the arms industry.”
He described Washington’s long-term “maximum pressure” policy on Iran as a failure, adding that the message of resistance from the Islamic Revolution has now reached American universities where student protests led to ouster and budget cuts in solidarity with Palestine.
“Despite all our efforts to isolate us, Iran is more resilient than ever,” Kalibah said.
“Iran-Saudi cooperation is essential to end the Palestinian crisis”
On the sidelines of the Pooh Summit, Karibah held a series of highly-prominent meetings with counterparts from other Islamic countries. Among them, the chief is an important bilateral discussion with Saudi Arabia Council speaker Abdullah Muhammad bin bin bin Ibrahim al al Sheikh.
During their meeting, Karibah emphasized that progress in the Islamic world is heavily dependent on Iran and Saudi Arabia’s cooperation. “We must seize this opportunity to restore the necessary channels of communication between our two countries and confront the shared challenges of the Islamic world,” he said.
He also praised Saudi Arabia for promoting this year’s Hajj arrangement and called for the expansion of bilateral relations in political, cultural and economic spheres. “If Islamic countries, especially Iran and Saudi Arabia, come together on Gaza, we can get closer to solving the Palestinian problem,” Karibakh said.
On his part, the Saudi speaker described the situation in Gaza as “heartbreaking,” saying the suffering of Palestinians under siege would affect the entire Muslim world. “This is not just Gaza, it’s all about Palestine. We couldn’t withstand such injustice,” said Al Al Sheikh, calling for practical cooperation and frequent involvement between Islamic countries.
Karibah also met with Ibrahim Baugari, the chairman of the Algerian Parliament, and Khalid bin bin Nasser al Mawari, the chairman of the Oman Parliament. These consultations focused on strengthening parliamentary cooperation, supporting the Palestinian cause and strengthening unity of the Islamic world.
The 19th PUIC Conference, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Union, gathered parliamentary delegations from 38 Islamic countries under the theme of “good governance and strong institutions as pillars of resilience.” The summit, held in Jakarta, Indonesia from May 11th to 14th, served as an important forum to deal with the Gaza crisis and promote strategic cooperation among Muslim countries.
