TEHRAN – Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Sirozidin Mouridin is visiting Iran to attend the 14th Tehran Dialogue Forum and discussed with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut on Saturday morning.
At their meeting, the two exchanged opinions on ways to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan, expand cultural and security cooperation, and promote exchanges between the two countries with people.
They emphasized the deep cultural, linguistic and civilized relationships between the two countries and called for the strengthening of comprehensive relationships within the framework of historical and fraternal bonds.
The two foreign ministers also discussed recent regional and global developments, expressed concern over the situation in West Asia, and emphasized the need for continued regional cooperation, particularly in Afghanistan.
Iran calls for the rapid implementation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Treaty
Iran’s Foreign Minister Aragut at a meeting with Armenian Security Council Amen Grigolyan held in Tehran on Saturday, stressed that the rapid implementation of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is essential to sustaining regional stability and security.
“Iran is calling for accelerated conclusions on a peace agreement between the two countries to stabilize lasting peace and support the region’s comprehensive development and progress process,” Araguchi said.
He added that Iran’s Islamic Republic, which maintains good relations with both Armenia and Azerbaijan, is ready to make every effort to promote the signing and enforcement of the agreement.
In March, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to a text from a peace agreement aimed at ending a nearly 40-year conflict between two South Caucasian neighbors. Under the agreement, Yerevan accepted to abandon his claims to Karabakh.
The longstanding region of Karabakh, which was the flashpoint of two major wars in the 1990s and 2020, was always internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, which regained control of the region in a one-day military operation.
Araguchi noted the strong relations between Iran and Armenia, reaffirming Tehran’s willingness to further strengthen friendly relations based on mutual respect. He also reiterated Iran’s consistent stance on Iranian rights to peaceful nuclear energy, explaining to Armenian officials about the latest development of indirect negotiations with the United States.
On his part, Grigorian praised the active and growing relationship between Armenia and Iran, expressing his country’s determination to expand its comprehensive relationship with Tehran, particularly in the economic and trade realm. He also provided an update on Armenia-Azerbaijan’s peace process and praised Iran’s support for Armenia’s national security, territorial integrity and peace initiative.
