TEHRAN – Just as Iran celebrated the anniversary of Kolamshaar’s liberation, military generals issued a rebellious statement, warning that attacks on the values of the Islamic Republic and nuclear facilities would be met with a determined and powerful response.
This message comes amid growing regional tensions and Israel’s threat to Israel’s nuclear presence.
A military statement released on Friday said Kolamshaal returned from the Iraqi army during the Iran-Iraq war in 1982, as a turning point in the history of the Islamic Republic, representing unity, resistance and God’s victory. It praised Basij’s role under the leadership of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), the Army and the late Imam Khomeini, calling victory a “shining gem” in Iran’s sacred legacy.
“The Islamic Republic’s military will decisively oppose threats or hostile actions targeting the sacred values and strategic interests of the revolution,” the statement read. “From Iranian revolution to sacred defense and recent operations, the history of the Iranian state develops a steady commitment to national sovereignty and resistance to global rog arrogance.”
The statement also criticized the US’s new attempts to destabilize the region by pose as diplomacy and strategic partnerships. The military has denounced the US president of the sowing sector in Islamic countries by reviving the failed narrative of “Iranphobia” in order to exploit local wealth and distract America from its own domestic agenda.
“These calculations are not only misguided, they are also dangerous,” the statement warned. “Like Vietnam and Afghanistan, new pranks in the region will come at a great expense for the US and its allies.”
fm araghchi holds us, Israel is responsible for the provocation of letters to the United Nations
Meanwhile, in another development, Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut has formally called on the United Nations, warning of a credible threat to Israel to launch a strike at Iranian nuclear facility.
Referring to a CNN report cited US officials released on May 20, the letter said the new Intelligence Reporting Agency suggests that the Zionist regime is preparing military action targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. Aragut stressed that Iran’s nuclear programme remains under full and transparent surveillance by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with no evidence of deviation from peaceful purposes.
“These threats represent serious violations of international law, the UN Charter and the IAEA foundations,” writes Araguchi, citing several IAEA General Conference resolutions condemning armed attacks or threats against protected nuclear facilities. “These actions also take risks to catastrophic consequences across the region (political, environmental, humanitarian, humanitarian).”
The Foreign Minister called on the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibility to protect international peace and security and to prevent such attacks. He also urged the IAEA to take a clear stance and warned that failure to take action undermines the reliability and fairness of nuclear observers.
Araguchi further declared that in the event of an attack, Iran will exercise its legal right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. He also said that he is partially accountable to the US government and that Washington’s support and coordination with the Zionist administration would be complicit in a potential attack.
“Iran has the right to take all necessary steps to protect its citizens, infrastructure and sovereignty,” the letter emphasized. “The world must recognize that Iran is not passive in the face of terrorism and sabotage that disguises its security operations.”
