Mumbai – The 36th anniversary of Ayatollah Roofra Musabi Khomeini, the founder of Islamic Republic of Iran, was memorized serenely at Kesar Baug Hall with an event entitled Yad e Imam e Rahir. The program brought together large gatherings of attendees from a variety of life journeys, including renowned scholars, students, community members and women who had special arrangements.
The programme, held with dignity and dedication, was characterized by deep reflection on Imam Khomeini’s life and heritage. His pivotal role in the Iranian revolution and the establishment of the Islamic Republic, based on his values of justice, resistance and spiritual revival, was a central theme throughout the event.
The highlight of the evening was the touching performance of Salaam Farfande by over 50 children. Their energetic readings symbolize the infusion of new senses of purpose and emotion into the meeting, and the transfer of Khomeini’s ideals to the next generation.
Several respected Ulemas took to the stage to share insights into various aspects of Imam Khomeini’s multifaceted personality. Among the well-known speakers were Maulana Haider Abbas, Maulana Sayed Mohammed Askari, Maulana Hussain Mahdi Hussain and Maulana Hasnain Rizvi Kalluvi. Each speaker touched on various dimensions of Khomeini’s life, including his unwavering position on oppression, his deep commitment to the Quran and Ahl-Baito teachings, and his vision for Muslim unity and independence.
The speaker also highlighted the relevance of Imam Khomeini’s thinking in today’s sociopolitical climate, urging audiences to reflect on the message of resistance to tyranny and moral integrity in leadership.
Adding depth to the tribute was an audiovisual presentation documenting the journey of Imam Khomeini. From his early life and his struggle with the Pahlavi regime to the transformational effects he had on the 1979 Iranian revolution and the awakening of Islam around the world. This presentation gave us a rare glimpse into historical moments that changed the political and spiritual landscape of the Islamic world.
The event concluded with a prayer and a new commitment to protecting the values that Imam Khomeini supported. The successful adjustment of the event, high attendance and mobility tributes served as evidence of the lasting impact of his legacy over 30 years after his death.
