Tehran – Iran and Kazakhstan reiterate their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across the political, economic and cultural sectors, and both countries are calling for strengthened cooperation based on mutual respect, shared values and regional stability.
At a meeting held in Tehran on Saturday morning, Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian met with Murat Nuru, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. The discussion is characterized by a warm spirit of solidarity, with both sides expressing a clear desire to open new chapters into long-standing relationships.
President Pezeshkian expanded his sincere congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Ada, describing the festival and annual Hajj pilgrimage as a powerful symbol of unity in the Islamic world. He emphasized that these sacred opportunities serve as reminders of the importance of submission to God’s will and putting aside personal interests for greater good.
“The outcome of this great religious congregation must be a new collective resolve to deepen friendship and solidarity among Muslim countries,” Peshshkian said.
He emphasized the Islamic Republic’s view of Islamic Republic as a brother, repeating Iran’s openness to share his knowledge, experience and resources with fellow Islamic countries. “Our preparation for engaging with Kazakhstan and all Muslim countries is rooted in the spiritual teachings of Islam,” he added. “Together, we can pave the way for sustainable development, prosperity and a more equitable global order.”
Emphasizing the cultural and historical links between Iran and Kazakhstan, Pezeshkian said the two countries share not only geographical regions but also a common perspective on peace, progress and regional cooperation. “We are ready to expand our ties with Kazakhstan in all areas,” he argued. “The future of our bilateral relationships depends on the joint will to build a world based on peace, security and shared prosperity.”
The Iranian president also highlighted the important role of foreign ministers in shaping international relations, calling on diplomatic leaders to act as facilitators to unleash intergovernmental opportunities. “The Foreign Minister holds the key to his state and state engagement,” he told Nurlleu. “Turn the keys, unlock the doors, paving the way for comprehensive cooperation.”
“Iran’s nuclear activity has always been transparent.”
Turning to international issues, President Pezeshkian has tackled ongoing indirect talks between Iran and the United States, rejecting Western accusations regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
“We have clearly and repeatedly stated, both in words and in our actions, that Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons or weapons of mass destruction,” he said, noting that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed multiple times of transparency in Iran’s nuclear activity.
Kazakhstan praises Iran as a major regional partner
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Nurruh praised the opportunity to meet with Iranian leaders and gave a greeting from Kazakh President Kasim Jomat Tokayev. He congratulated the Iranian government and the people of Eid al-Ada and reaffirmed his country’s solid commitment to expanding ties with Iran.
“We consider Iran to be a country of deep cultural and historical significance,” Nurlleu said. “We fully support your legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy and are extremely confident that your government’s reform efforts will pay off in advancing the well-being of the people of Iran.”
Nurlleu also expressed his hope that President Tokayev will hand over a formal written message to President Pezeshkian, marking the beginning of a new era in bilateral cooperation. He said Kazakhstan is keen to work with Iran in diverse sectors and sees its current momentum as an opportunity to lay the foundation for broader strategic collaboration.
Leading the fronts of Eid al-Ada, Presidents Pezeshkian and Tokayev held telephone conversations on Thursday, exchanging holiday greetings and reaffirming the brotherhood between the nations.
Foreign Minister will inked ink on new cooperation agreements
As part of an ongoing effort to strengthen bilateral involvement, Foreign Minister Muratnarul met with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araguchi in Tehran. The two ministers have signed a new memorandum of understanding to strengthen institutional cooperation between the two foreign ministries.
The agreement was signed on Saturday at the Iranian Foreign Ministry and covers the expansion of regional collaborations ranging from diplomacy and trade to cultural exchanges and regional stability. It is expected that new frameworks for mutual consultation and coordination will be created in multilateral forums.
