TEHRAN – The Iranian government has issued strong condemnation after a fatal Israeli strike that killed Iran’s most senior military officials and prominent nuclear scientists, according to an initial report, pointing out some of Iran’s most senior military officials and prominent nuclear scientists as “co-ill conduct of terrorism.”
In an official statement, the Islamic Republic government of Iran condemned the attack as a deliberate attempt to cause blatant violations of international law and an open conflict. The government accused Israel of trying to thwart ongoing nuclear diplomacy through a targeted assassination campaign.
“The Zionist regime has once again demonstrated the nature of its terrorists by targeting our hometowns and assassinating commanders and scientists, and ignored all legal norms,” the statement read.
Among the martyrs on the Israeli strike are some of Iran’s highest ranked military and scientists.
Major General Mohammad Bagheli, chief of staff of the Iranian army. Major General Hossain Salami, Commander of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, Commander of Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters. Dr. Feredun Abbasi, former head of Iran’s atomic energy organization. And it was confirmed that all leading nuclear physicist and scholar Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi were killed in the attack.
The Iranian government described the attack as an act of war, saying that although Iran has not launched a conflict for more than two centuries, it reserves the right to respond decisively when its sovereignty is violated.
“Retaliation is not only our right, but it is inevitable,” the statement declared, adding that military, legal and diplomatic measures are already underway. “We will turn this violation into a crime that is unacceptable to the Israeli regime.”
Tehran also denounced the Western government of accomplice through silence and called on the UN Security Council to act in support of the international order. However, Iran warned that it would not wait for an international consensus.
“The vengeance is nearby. For Zionists, it’s more of a Zionist than their own jugular vein. This is not just the voice of the government, but the voice of the nation.”
