TEHRAN – The Iranian navy has announced that it has stopped a British destroyer in the Sea of Oman after the ship entered the region to support the Zionist regime leading a missile strike towards Iranian territory.
In a statement released by the First Navy Zone’s Public Relations Office, the Navy said the British warship entered the North Indian Ocean late on Saturday night. Iran’s surveillance system detected the vessel early and naval combat drones were dispatched to respond.
“Following the clear and direct warning issued by Iranian naval drones, the container was prevented from continuing towards the Persian Gulf,” the statement said. “Thanks to the timely vigilance of our intelligence message system, the destroyers were identified, tracked and ultimately forced to change course.”
According to the Navy, the destroyers were effectively forced to retreat by the operational traps of Iran’s intelligence reporting agency and maritime defense forces in the Sea of Oman.
The incident comes amid growing regional tensions following recent Israeli attacks on Iranian targets and subsequent retaliation operations by Iran based on Operation True Promise III, which included missile and drone attacks on strategic Israeli status in the occupying territories.
The Iranian Navy has reaffirmed that movements that threaten national security and support enemy attacks will be filled with immediate and decisive actions.
