Tehran – The head of Iran’s Red Crescent Association (IRCS) has been demonstrated in a letter to the international community and the Red Cross Society by urging them to condemn the violation of humanitarian law by the Zionist regime, killing IRCS members and targeting medical centres.
On Friday, June 13, Israel launched a massive military attack on Iran’s Islamic Republic, showing serious escalation of regional tensions and raising serious concerns over violations of international law. The war between Iran and Israel appeared to halt on June 24th.
According to the IRCS website, his letter, Pirhossein Kolivand, reports that he emphasized the need for moral courage and the need for coordinated efforts.
“It is deeply saddened and serious concern to bring attention to the recent attacks carried out by the Zionist regime on Iran’s Islamic Republic, and during that time, the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law and the core values of the International Red Cross and Red Three Zent movement are distinguished and repeatedly violated.
“These attacks not only targeted civilian purposes, but also intentionally and intentionally attacked with humanitarian relief vehicles with Red Crescent’s distinctive emblems and volunteer personnel engaged in humanitarian missions. These actions clearly represent war crimes.
Tragically, five of our dedicated rescue workers marched in these attacks, and critical medical devices such as ambulances and red crescent rescue helicopters marked with the official red crescent crescent crescent crescent crescent crescent crescent crescent crescent crescent crescent, tragically targeted and destroyed. These incidents pose a severe threat to the safety and dignity of humanitarian activities in the region.
We firmly believe that silence or omission in the face of such a serious violation will pave the way for repeated similar atrocities elsewhere in the world and undermine the trust placed in humanitarian institutions.
Therefore, we urge you and your national society with respect.
1. Formal and explicitly condemn these inhumane conduct and express a clear and determined attitude in the protection of international humanitarian law.
2. Supports the issuance of a joint and comprehensive statement calling for immediate international investigation into these crimes, particularly targeting relief workers, destruction of medical facilities, and targeting humanitarian transport.
3. I request the International Federation of the Red Cross Associations (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to take serious legal action against the perpetrators of these violations, hold them accountable, and support and defend the noble values of our movement.
Now, our global movement requires solidarity, moral courage and coordinated action to support fundamental principles rooted in humanity, neutrality, and protection of the most vulnerable.
We imagine a world where humanitarian workers are never targeted, and in which the Red Cross and Red Crescent coats of arms remain sacred symbols of protection and peace. I am deeply grateful for your support and meaningful actions towards this goal. ”
IRCS tells the ICRC about Iran’s Israeli crimes
The head of the IRCS told ICRC president Mirjana Spoljaric Egger it was not enough to respond to pictures of innocent Iranian children killed in the Israeli strike and say “my heart is broken.”
“You shouldn’t be silent. You have to follow up (and take action),” said IRCS head Pilhosine Koliband.
Israeli blind attacks attack target children, women, elderly people and sick people, officials added.
Koliband condemned the Zionist regime’s offensive actions against Iran, urging her to use all available international mechanisms to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of civilians and humanitarian workers.
Israel attacked targets of Iran’s civil nuclear facilities and housing, resulting in the deaths of dozens of civilians, senior nuclear scientists and senior military officials.
“In deep sorrow and sadness, we would like to inform you that many innocent civilians, including women and children, have lost their lives and many others have been injured following Israel’s brutal and illegal airstrikes in the Islamic Republic of Israel.
“Tradically, one of the relief workers of Iran’s Red Crescent Association martyrs while fulfilling his humanitarian duties.
This hostile conduct constitutes a blatant violation of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, particularly the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and its additional protocols, particularly Article 51 of Protocol I, which relates to the protection of citizens during international armed conflicts.
The attack also violates the principle of distinction and proportion, and clearly corresponds to a war crime.
Iran’s Red Crescent Association will strongly condemn this inhumane conduct and, under you and your leadership, formally condemn this attack on you and your institution as a neutral and humanitarian organisation, leverage all international mechanisms available to help protect civilians and humanitarian workers.
We continue to cling to neutrality, independence and commitment to human principles, and we hope that the International Committee of the Red Cross will act on these principles and fulfill our moral and historical responsibility to protect human rights and international humanitarian law in times of crisis. ”
