Criticizing the silence of several Western countries, Bahrain emphasized that foreign bodies and states do not wait for Iran’s Islamic Republic to defend its sovereignty.
Addressing the 59th session of the Human Rights Council during the adoption of the results of the Iranian Universal Regular Review (UPR), he referred to the attacks on Iran’s territory on Israeli regime and the US military attacks, describing the law as a clear violation of international law and fundamental principles of human rights.
The attacks have killed more than 630 Iranian citizens, including dozens of women and children, he said, adding that with direct support from the United States, the Israeli regime is illegally targeting Iran’s private infrastructure, medical centres, residential areas and even peaceful nuclear functions.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Bareini called the silence and accomplice of some Western countries with the Israeli regime an obvious normative failure.
Islamic republics of Iran have not accepted human rights recommendations from such countries due to their hypocrisy, he stressed.
Referring to Article 51 of the UN Charter, Bahrain reaffirmed Iran’s legitimate right to self-defense, saying it would not wait for Iran to stand up against Israeli invasion and for foreign bodies and states to defend Iran’s state and sovereignty.
He also thanked countries for publishing statements denounced Israel and the US’s illegal activities and expressing support for Iran, based on international principles.
Iranian envoys criticized the invalidity of the Human Rights Council in dealing with the crimes of the Israeli regime in Palestine and regional, and proposed to form a committee examining the country’s role in supporting the regime in committing war crimes.
