TEHRAN – Iran’s attorney Gholamhossein Mohseni-eje’i has condemned the Israeli regime’s recent air strikes at Evin Prison as a blatant crime, calling for immediate restructuring of damaged sections and returning infringers who have evacuated to the facility.
Speaking at a session of the Supreme Council of Justice on Monday, Mohseni-eje’i emphasized that the necessary plans have been put in place to accelerate the reconstruction process. “All conditions need to be created to ensure that prisoners who have migrated from Evin can return without delay,” he said.
On June 23, as part of a wider attack on Iran, the Israeli regime launched an air strike at Evin Prison, killing 79 people, including prison staff, soldiers, prisoners, visiting families and civilians living nearby. The attacks that occurred during visits also targeted the prison medical centre and nearby units.
Judicial spokesman Asgal Jahangir described the strike as a “full war crime” and said it occurred when prisoners were with their families and social workers, causing serious physical and economic damage to the surrounding area.
After the incident, Iranian authorities moved the inmates to other detention facilities in Tehran to ensure their safety.
In his remarks, Moseni Ejay said that events over the past few weeks have proven to the world that Iran is truly a “brave land.” “Until recently, many people may have thought of this phrase as just a slogan,” he said. “But today the world witnessed that reality.”
He emphasized that the unity and resistance manifested by the people and the military in Iran has reconstructed global awareness. “If the enemy dares to threaten Iran again, they will face an even stronger and more decisive response,” he warned.
Mohseni-eje’i also added that the Zionist and American attacks only emphasized the resilience and courage of the Iranian people. “As Imam Khomeini said, Iran is a godly being, and the power on earth cannot hurt it,” he said.
Mohseni-eje’i emphasized that the beginning of a “another imposed war” against the Iranian people since June 23rd has emerged a strong sense of national unity. “We have seen unprecedented solidarity in every segment of society, regardless of class or political opinion,” he said. “Even Iranians living abroad have expressed their support.”
He called on officials to protect this sense of unity, adding, “The Islamic Republic and its officials are deeply grateful for this dedicated and brave country. The judiciary must also serve these people more faithfully than ever.”
The airstrikes at Evin Prison were part of a wider Israeli attack that began on June 13, during which the regime assassinated several Iranian military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians. A few days later, the US joined the escalation by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites. This was condemned by Tehran as a serious violation of the UN Charter, International Law and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
In response, Iranian troops launched a precision strike on key targets in Qatar’s Israeli-occupied territories and in Qatar’s Aldeid US Air Base, the largest US military facility in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran declared that the retaliation operation successfully halted the illegal attack, strengthened its deterrent, and sent a clear message to both Tel Aviv and Washington.
