TEHRAN – Iranian judicial spokesman Asgal Jahangir has firmly rejected a request justifying the June 23 air strike at Tehran’s Evin prison, revealing that he has never been harmed in the attack that martivated 80 Iranians by Israeli spies at the facility.
“The Israeli operatives held in Evin were not harmed. This was a terrorist attack on humanitarian spaces,” he said at a press conference on Saturday.
The Israeli regime framed the bombing as a “symbolic strike” targeting “Iran’s suppression machinery,” but the precision missiles attacked the prison’s medical centre, visiting halls and administrative offices at 10:30am.
The attack transformed the humanitarian belt into blood, transforming prison staff into young conscriptions who had completed mandatory military service, prison relatives, and neighbors who lived near the complex.
“The Zionists committed a wholesale crime,” Jahangir declared. “Even the neighbors near the visiting hall were martyrs. This reveals people who really threaten the civilians in our area.”
Additionally, the spokesman vehemently denied allegations that the family could not contact the prisoners, saying, “Immediately after the attack, judicial authorities provided a phone call to ensure that all inmates were able to ensure their safety. The bus moved them safely.”
While “insignificant numbers” of prisoners fled during the attack, Jahangir highlighted the most voluntary rescue efforts.
Among the 80 martyrs were two artists and mother Mehrangiz Imanpour, who lived near the prison. Her ex-husband, author Reza Kandan Mahabadi, lamented, “Meharangis was the beauty of my children’s lives.”
Also murdered was Hajar ‘Hasti’ Mohammadi, a humanitarian volunteer who coordinates the release of debt claimants. She died when Debris crushed the entrance to the visiting hall.
The witness described the apocalyptic scene: “Three missiles collided with the entrance to the prison. The family and plaintiffs seeking conflict resolution were covered in blood,” the sister of one inmate told Etemad. Her brother called out her cry: “People died right in front of my eyes!”
The attack occurred during the Israeli regime’s 12-day attack on Iran. Iran has martialized more than 1,060 Iranians, according to Saeed Ohadi of the Martialists and Veterans Affairs Foundation.
