Tehran – Iran has defied the recent US accusations of supplying military equipment to Yemen, describing it as an attempt to distract the public from the root causes of Western Asia’s instability.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeli Bagaei dismissed the claim as “deceived” and politically motivated.
Baghaei emphasized that the US is fully responsible for enabling ongoing military attacks across occupied Palestine and the region. He said Washington’s unwavering political and military support encouraged the Zionist regime to intensify genocide campaigns in Gaza and the West Bank, and to violate the sovereignty of countries such as Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
He added that the US is using these false accusations against Iran to work closely with Israel to justify its ongoing military presence and destructive operations.
“By supporting the criminal acts of the Israeli regime, the United States will directly contribute to the suffering of people across the region, undermining peace and stability,” Bagaei said.
He noted that Israeli invasions are not limited to Palestine. It has also carried out repeated attacks on Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and even Iranian territory.
Shortly after the start of the Gaza War in October 2023, Ansarra implemented blockades of major maritime routes in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea. The Red Sea, adjacent to Yemen’s coast, is an important waterway for oil and commodities.
The Yemeni army then swears to intensify drone and missile attacks on Israel and commercial vessels, and that operations will not cease until Israel ends a devastating war with Gaza.
On Wednesday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) alleged that around 750 tons of Iranian weapons had been seized in the Red Sea, which was tied to Ansarra Resistance Group. While the US and Israeli regimes have argued that Iran is arming Ansarrah, Tehran has repeatedly denied the accusations, saying resistance groups were using local weapons.
According to Centcom, the cargo included naval and air missile systems, air defense systems, modern radar, drones, surveillance equipment, surveillance missiles, B10 artillery, sniper scopes, sniper rifles, ammunition and advanced military equipment.
