Tehran – Iran will push forward its demands in future negotiations with European political parties with the 2015 nuclear deal.
Speaking at Monday’s weekly press conference, Baghey announced that new talks between Iran and E3 are scheduled for Friday, July 25th in Istanbul, focusing on sanctions relief and nuclear-related conflicts.
Tehran excludes our story, but leaves the door open to diplomacy
Asked about the possibility of a direct dialogue with the US, Baghaei said that consultations with Washington are not planned under the current circumstances, but emphasized that diplomacy remains an important tool for protecting national interests.
“We don’t intend to be involved with the United States right now. It said that diplomacy is an instrument for national protection. If it serves the interests of the people of Iran, we will not hesitate to pursue it.”
Iran rejects snapback mechanisms as illegal
Baghaei strongly condemned the new threat to invoke a snapback mechanism to reimpose Iran’s sanctions, claiming there was no legal, political or moral justification for such a move.
“There is no legal basis for restoring sanctions lifted under the JCPOA. E3 was unable to implement its obligations and in some cases even attempted to justify Israeli invasion.”
He confirmed that Iran will hold a trilateral meeting with Russia and China – both of the JCPOA and party members of the UN Security Council – on Tuesday in Tehran, where snapback issues will become a key topic.
“We have been closely consulting with both Moscow and Beijing for the past year and will continue to work with them to prevent or mitigate the consequences of illegal activities.”
Criticism of Europe’s role in Israel’s attacks
Baghaei criticizes Germany’s recent position, particularly Prime Minister Scholz’s comments that “Israel is doing dirty work for us,” calling it “legally consequential and ethically condemned.”
“We are seriously dissatisfied with the German stance. That statement alone has legal implications. Instead of justifying them, the European Party should have taken a solid, independent position in response to Israeli military actions.”
He added that future talks in Istanbul will be an opportunity for Iran to hold Europe accountable.
“This is a session where Iran sets the tone, not the other way around.”
“Iran-Pakistan relations: presidential visit is planned.”
Regarding regional diplomacy, Baghey announced that President Masudo Pezeshkian will visit Pakistan in the coming weeks, highlighting the depth of Tehran-Islamabad ties.
“Relations with Pakistan are rooted in shared history, culture and religion. The recent interaction between Iranian and Pakistani officials reflects our broader policy of strengthening regional relations, particularly in the wake of Israeli attacks.”
“Israel uses food as a weapon in Gaza.”
Turning to Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, Baghey condemned what he described as “an unprecedented genocide,” accusing the Israeli regime of using hunger as a way of war.
“Gaza has been under siege for over 140 days. In the last 24 hours, nearly 150 Palestinians (civilians, many of whom are waiting for food) have been killed.
He called on regional states to act responsibly and urged Islamic Cooperation Organizations (OICs) to convene an emergency session.
“The conscience of mankind has been paralyzed. The legal institutions are paralyzed, and the international courts are silent by threats.”
“Discussions with Egyptian Switzerland aimed at restoring peace in Gaza”
He confirmed that Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut recently had discussions with his Swiss and Egyptian counterparts on both bilateral and regional issues, including the development of Syria and Lebanon.
“We have used these conversations to express our hopes of halting Israeli crime and restoring regional stability.”
“Iran has always been the most generous host for refugees.”
Regarding the issue of refugees in Afghanistan, Bagaei said Iran is actively coordinating with international and regional partners.
“Iran has long been the most generous host for refugees, and recent measures aim to legally organize the refugee issue with dignity.
“The detention of Iranians in the United States is against human rights.”
Baghaei condemned the arrest of US Iranian citizens and called the move discriminatory and contradicted international human rights.
“These arrests are racially motivated and unfair. We will raise issues in the US interests section and continue to follow up through all legal channels.”
