TEHRAN – Thousands of Iranians took them to towns across the country at a massive rally on Friday to condemn the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza and express solidarity with the Palestinians.
Called “Friday of Wrath and Victory,” the meeting, held after Friday prayers of congregations in cities across the country, was organized by the Islamic Development Coordination Council. The Islamic Development Coordination Council had called for mass participation in response to the war crimes and genocide committed by the Zionist regime during the recent 12-day conflict.
The Marchers chanted anti-Israel slogans, including “Death to Israel,” and carried the Hezbollah flags of Iran, Palestine and Lebanon. Many participants held portraits of martyrs, especially senior military commanders, who were killed in the recent battle between Iran and Israel, which began with an unprovoked attack from Israel on June 13th.
Protesters called for an immediate end to bloodshed in Gaza, the complete lifting of Israeli lockdowns, urgent action from international human rights groups, and prosecutions of Israeli leaders and international court supporters.
Participants also criticized the inactions of international organizations and condemned the deafening silence in the face of unfolding genocide.
The rally sent a strong message from Tehran and other cities. It denies Israel’s crimes, rejects US support for illegal regimes, calls for global organisations to open humanitarian corridors and take urgent and concrete steps to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza.
At the end of the rally, a joint resolution was read out, urging Iran’s foreign ministry and embassies to put diplomatic pressure on international and regional groups, including the Arab League, to stop the Israeli attacks. The cooperation with NGOs also called for the compilation and presentation of legal documents relating to war crimes and violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention and the rights of children.
