TEHRAN – President Masuud Pezeshkian on Tuesday attended a ceremony at the Amene Welfare and Nursery complex in Tehran to honor the memories of children killed in the recent 12-day Israeli attacks.
The commemoration was held to pay tribute to the young martyrs of the Zionist regime’s attackers, including toddlers and toddlers who lost their lives in the attack. Official figures show that 47 of the victims were children and adolescents, the youngest of which was only nine months old.
Speaking to a group of children who were cared for at the facility, President Pezeschkian said:
Israel launched a surprising attack on June 13th, killing at least 1,064 people across the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary civilians.
Tehran responded with a massive missile and drone campaign under Operation True Promise III several hours later.
On June 22, the US officially joined the conflict and launched airstrikes at Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordor, Natanz and Isfahan using bunkerbuster ammunition.
In response, Iran is ready to target US Al-Udeid Air Force Base in Qatar with ballistic missiles and escalate as needed.
Amidst rising casualties, internal unrest and concerns over Iran’s retaliation, Israel accepted a unilateral ceasefire on June 24, effectively ending the 12-day conflict.
