Tehran – The Ministry of the Environment (DOE) is planning a review of Clean Air Low, established in July 2017, assessing its effectiveness in achieving desired goals.
Eight years after the law was enacted, not only did the pollution not decrease, but it was getting worse even in the cold season, Isna quoted DOE official Sezike Travi.
The DOE is currently monitoring the implementation of the law, identifying issues and knowing whether there is a flaw in the enforceability or inefficiency of a responsible organization. Therefore, the DOE determines which measures will be adopted and what issues to be placed on the agenda.
Air pollution is the second major risk factor for death, causing premature births of around 8.1 million people a year from conditions such as stroke, heart disease, lung cancer and acute respiratory infections.
The biggest environmental health risks of the time were to exacerbate climate change, cause economic losses, and reduce agricultural productivity.
There are no borders. Everyone is responsible for protecting our atmosphere and ensuring healthy air for everyone.
In August 2024, DOE director, Shina Ansari, stressed that adopting appropriate policies and monitoring their implementation is the main responsibility of the Ministry of Environment in dealing with air pollution.
“Abolishing worn-out cars, improving fuel and vehicle quality, developing public transport, providing resources and reducing industrial emissions are among the key factors in dealing with air pollution,” Ansari emphasized.
However, air pollution, a major challenge for large and industrial cities, cannot be tackled in a short period of time, she added.
Clean air method
Air pollution is one of the government’s main concerns. Therefore, all organizations have an obligation to act under the Clean Air Act.
Clean Airlow was considered a solution to alleviate air pollution across the country. Still, the atmosphere is severely polluted as responsible agencies ignore the legal obligation to enforce the law.
The law defines the responsibilities of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Petroleum, Energy, Ministry of Transport and Urban Development, Ministry of Industrial and Mining, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, police, municipalities, national television, and other organizations.
In this regard, according to the Ministry of Petroleum, a three-year plan presented to the Ministry of Environment, the amount of sulfur in diesel fuel should be significantly reduced to meet national standards.
The importance of having clean air is that a week in the country was named after Clean Air Week.
