Tehran – A fatal terrorist attack on the southeastern provinces of Sistan and Balchestan provinces claimed the life of one member of Iranian law enforcement forces.
The Sistan and the Balkestan Police Information Centre announced the martial teaching of Major Ramin Sadegi of Iranshaal in a clash with gunmen in the city on Friday evening.
The so-called Jaish Al-Adl Terrorist Group claims responsibility for the shooting attack. The group announced on social media on Saturday that its members had attacked the night before.
Local reports say the clash erupted in Iranshaal’s square when police launched operations against the militants. Security forces were able to injure some attackers during the exchange.
Sistan and Balchestan, who share the border with Pakistan, have long been hotspots for terrorist activities. Over the past few years, extremist groups have repeatedly targeted both state civilians and security personnel.
The so-called Jaish Al-Adl has argued responsibility for several such attacks, including the October 26, 2023 attack in the Gohar Kuh district of Taftan County, where 10 law enforcement officials were killed. That strike was one of the most deadly in the state in recent memory.
The group is known for its tactics such as temptation such as tempting border guards, police station attacks and deliberately targeting civilians to sow instability. Iranian officials claim that such terrorist costumes are active in both the southeastern and southwest of the country and are operating with the support of foreign intelligence agencies.
