TEHRAN – The deputy commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) claimed that Israel had significantly misjudged the war with Iran despite deploying its full capacity during the 12-day conflict.
Brigadier General Ali Fadabi said on Monday that “the Zionist enemies entered a war with the United States, confident in victory, but their expectations turned out to be wrong.” He added that initial communication occurred between local leaders and Israeli officials on the opening day, but the situation quickly changed in favor of Iran.
If the error continues, further consequential warnings, General Fadabi stressed, “If this trend continues, the severity of the mistake will soon be realized.” He noted that Iran’s missile strike against Iraq targets Israel’s main position as evidence of the outcomes of the Islamic Republic during the conflict.
Fadavi also emphasized that hostility from global power, particularly from the United States and its allies, was a lasting feature of the Iranian revolutionary era after 1979.
The conflict began on June 13, 2025, when Israel launched airstrikes targeting Iranian civilians, military and nuclear sites, killing Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists during business hours.
Iran responded with a series of retaliatory drone and missile strikes on Israeli settlements and military facilities, attacking military facilities under the name of the True Promise III surgery, causing serious damage.
On June 22, the US Air Force and Navy intervened to attack three Iranian nuclear facilities to ease pressure on Israel. The following day, Tehran targeted more than 30 drones and missiles targeting US bases in Qatar, damaging multiple sections of the facility, and targeting it in an operation called the Good News of Winning.
By June 24, after maintaining significant losses from the Iranian forces, both Israel and the United States had agreed to halt hostilities, marking the end of the 12-day conflict.
