The Tehran-101 earthquake was recorded nationwide in a week from August 23rd to 2029, according to the Earthquake Network of the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Tehran Geophysics.
Statistically, there are 86 earthquakes with a size less than 3. 13 earthquakes, between 3 and 4 sizes. According to the IRNA, two earthquakes occurring in the country, ranging from 4 to 5.
Of the total, one is 4.1 on the Richter scale, which occurred on August 29th in the province of Buchere.
Of the states of the country, the 19-year-old Carman had the highest number of earthquakes, followed by North Colasan’s 12 earthquakes.
During the same period, an earthquake struck Tehran. No earthquakes have been recorded in Eastern Azabaijan, West Azarbaijan, Aldabil, Alborz, Ilam, Zanjan, Kazbin and Gilan provinces.
According to the seismological network of the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Tehran, a total of 6,272 earthquakes have been recorded nationwide in past calendar years (March 2024 -March 2025).
From the registered earthquakes, 150 were over four on the Richter scale. At least five earthquakes of 4.5 or more have occurred monthly in the country.
The Iranian plateau is located in a highly seismically active region of the world and is known not only for its major catastrophic earthquakes, but also for its natural disasters, particularly earthquake-related disasters.
Iran has about 2% of the world’s earthquakes, but more than 6% of the world’s earthquake casualties in the 20th century have been reported from Iran’s earthquakes.
