TEHRAN – Iran’s top medical officials have said the road to dialogue with the US remains open, but Washington’s refusal to seriously engage is preventing parties from joining new talks.
Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s highest national security council, made a comment on Tuesday in a post on his X account. A former Congressional Speaker and experienced politician, Larijani plays an important advice on Iran’s national security strategy.
“The path to negotiations with the US is not closed,” Larijani wrote, showing her willingness to reinstate diplomatically from Tehran. “But these are Americans who only pay lip service to talk and don’t come to the table. And they miscrib Iran!” he said.
High officials have identified certain US demands as a major obstacle. He argued that by introducing “non-realistic issues such as missile restrictions,” American officials intentionally set conditions that would make productive discussion impossible.
“This sets a path to deny every story,” Larijani wrote.
Tehran and the Trump administration engaged in indirect consultations for five rounds of this year before the US and Israel launched a bombing campaign against Iran in June. Since the end of the war, Americans have issued several official statements urging Iran to return to negotiations on its nuclear program.
Iranians have always said they can take steps to ensure that the West is not building nuclear weapons, but they want to maintain their legal right to nuclear enrichment. It also warns that no discussion can be made except for nuclear programs, including missiles and foreign policy.
Iran forced Israel and the United States to seek a ceasefire during the recent war after missiles slammed the occupied territory and struck a US air base in Qatar. Analysts say Iranian missiles are the foundation of national security.
