Tehran – Iran is urging European countries to adopt a “reliable, responsible, legally promote” approach to international affairs if they want to be seen as a contributor to world peace. This demand was made by Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei in a social media post on Tuesday.
Baghaei pointed to recent comments from European Parliament Michael McNamara. Michael McNamara said he correctly exposed Israeli war crimes and genocide in Gaza, repression in the West Bank and criminal offences against Iran. A spokesperson said this is acknowledging that E3 (Britten, Germany, France) is a reality.
“This is something that should be warned if the E3/EU wants to be considered a reliable, responsible, legally compliant stakeholder who can contribute to world peace,” the Iranian diplomat further said in his post.
In a recent address to the European Parliament, Michael McNamara said Israel’s actions in Gaza escalated from “defensive” operations to a complete war crime. He also characterized Israel’s June strike against Iran as an illegal and unprovoked act of aggression, claiming its true purpose was to undermine the then-ongoing nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States.
European leaders have maintained full support for Israel over the past two years despite extensive domestic objections.
