TEHRAN – Iran and Qatar have resolved recent diplomatic misconceptions following high-level debates in Doha, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut announced on Friday.
The issue came after Iran launched a strike at Aldeid Base in Qatar in response to a US attack on Iran’s nuclear facility, sparking tension between two Persian Gulf neighbours.
In an interview with Al-Sharq’s newspaper, Araghchi described the results of the meeting with Qatari officials as “very important and influential” and said he had conveyed a message from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Qatar’s chief Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. “There is no difference between the two countries. Through this visit, any misconceptions that arise have been completely resolved,” Araguchi said.
fm araghchi discusses with Qatar PM “very productive”
The Iranian diplomat also met with Qatar’s prime minister and foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and described the discussion as “serious, constructive and productive.” Araghchi emphasized that the consultation will provide a platform to strengthen bilateral relations and explore opportunities for regional cooperation, particularly in the areas of security and stability.
The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that the discussion with Qatar will extend beyond immediate misunderstandings and cover a wide range of issues, including bilateral relations and latest regional development. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between neighboring countries to ensure regional stability and security.
“In our speech, we explored ways to revive dialogue between regional states and coordinate efforts to counter the hegemonic ambitions of the Israeli regime and aggressive policies,” Araguchi said. He also said Iran’s nuclear program was discussed in detail and Qatar’s chief has received updates on the latest developments. “Our Qatari friends have always had a constructive view. These consultations provided valuable insights to both sides,” he added.
The central focus of the Aragut conference was the ongoing crisis in Gaza and the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The debate highlighted the continued attack on Israeli Gaza, which led to civilian casualties and widespread humanitarian suffering.
Both sides called for urgent action by regional states and the international community to stop what Aragucci described as “genocide and crime committed by the Zionist regime in occupied Palestine.” He charged the person responsible, highlighting the need to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to those affected, and to confront wider policies of Israeli attacks and control in the region.
Aragut praised the “legendary resilience” of the Palestinian people and affirmed Iran’s principled support for legitimate resistance to the profession. He repeated Tehran’s commitment to standing by the Palestinian state until his rights were fully restored, explaining continued atrocities, including hunger and attacks on civilians, as evidence of the genocide campaign.
“Iran remains steady in diplomacy in nuclear talks with the EU.”
In addition to meetings with Qatar leaders, Araguchi met with Kaja Karas, the European Union’s high-level representative for foreign and security policy. The debate focused on recent developments surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme, particularly the controversial moves by the UK, France and Germany, reviving previously resolved UN Security Council resolutions.
Araguchi condemned the actions of the European trio as “illegal and unfair,” highlighting the EU’s responsibility as coordinator of the JCPOA Joint Committee under UN Security Council resolution 2231.
Reaffirming Iran’s unwavering commitment to diplomacy, Araguchi said Tehran remains serious and unwavering in pursuing dialogue to address international concerns.
Crows emphasized that diplomacy and negotiations remain the only viable path, urging that all parties provide additional time and space for constructive consultations. Both sides agreed to continue consultations in the coming weeks to maintain momentum to resolve nuclear-related conflicts.
Palestinian resolve to resist remains unshakable, Araguc told Hamas leaders
During the visit, Araguchi held meetings with senior Hamas officials, including Khalil Al Haiya, a member of the movement’s Politburo, and other members of the Leadership Council. Discussion centered on the evolving situation in Gaza, the continued Israeli attacks, and efforts to promote prisoner interaction.
Araguchi praised the “heroic resilience” of the Palestinians on the Gaza and the banks of the Jordan River, and repeated Iran’s support for their legitimate resistance. He highlighted a wave of international protest against Israeli atrocities as evidence of global recognition and solidarity for the Palestinian cause.
He called for urgent, coordinated action by Muslim states to stop ongoing violence, provide humanitarian assistance to the besieged population, and ensure accountability of those responsible. Araguchi further emphasized that continuing cooperation between Islamic countries is essential to end the siege of Gaza and countering unstable actions in Israel’s region.
Khalil Al-Hayya provided a detailed briefing on the ground situation in Gaza, praised Iran’s support for the Palestinians and recognized solidarity from his regional and international allies, especially the people of Yemeni. He emphasized that despite repeated Israeli atrocities, the Palestinian people’s resolve to resist and defend their legitimate rights remains shaken.
